# Branding & Design

A template isn't just about the data - it's your document, in your style. On top of the placeholders that pull in your board data, you can shape the **entire look** of the document so it matches your brand.

Most of the design work happens in **Microsoft Word** itself: anything Word can do, your template can do. 

### Branding basics in Microsoft Word

Open your `.docx` template and use Word's normal formatting tools to make it yours:

* **Add your logo.** Insert your own logo wherever you like. *Note: the DocExport logo sits in the document header of our predefined templates, double-click the header to edit or remove it.*
* **Add your company details to the footer:** address, contact info, legal lines.
* **Set your typography:** change the font, font size, line spacing and alignment.
* **Insert images:** background graphics, dividers, product shots, and more.
* **Add or change any text:** headings, intro paragraphs, terms, signatures.

Your design lives in the Word file, so you stay in full control. Whenever you tweak the layout, just re-upload the template via the **Customize template** button in the DocExport view to see the changes in your preview.
